At LibreVital, we are dedicated to empowering individuals with complete control over their health data. We believe in a future where personal health information is secure and private, allowing users to make informed decisions about their well-being, without sacrificing their privacy.
While other companies are capitalizing on abusing your data, we want you to have full freedom and control of your data.
We are a for-profit business, so we do have to make money to exist and help achieve our goals, but we do so in harmony with you being in full control of your data and what is done with it. We exist to empower users to gain 100% control over their vital health data.
Why We Exist
We have been involved with the technology, data, and research industries since 1979, and the healthcare industry since 1990.
We have become increasing disturbed at the mistreatment of individuals data. A number of very prominent health and insurance companies that some of our staff worked on as individuals in past years, showed no respect for their member's data privacy, and security. Event when we repeatedly pointed out significant vulnerabilities and the need for audits, they refused.
Increasingly organizations like Apple and Google are consolidating, harvesting, and selling your data.
We believe health-concerned individuals and organizations should have other choices.
We have been actively involved with open source software and hardware projects for decades, and as these technologies are becoming more affordable, ubiquitous, and user-friendly, we want to make sure there continues to be open source hardware and software solutions for health data related technologies, and that users have 100% control over how their data is handled.

What Does "Libre Vitals" Mean?
"Libre Vitals" roughly translates to "Free Life" or "Vital Freedom" in English.
The word "libre" is French for "free," and "vitals" refers to things essential for life or vitality.
In French, "libre" means free in the sense of being unrestricted, independent, or liberated.
In English, "vitals" refers to things essential for life or functioning, like vital organs or vital signs, as well as something of utmost importance.
In choosing the name "Libre Vitals", we are making a call for freedom in life with a focus on what's essential for a fulfilling life.
In our context this is related to your freedom to do with your vital data in accordance with what we believe is your inherent right to privacy.
We believe you should have 100% transparency and 100% control over ALL of your data, especially your health and fitness data:
- where it is stored
- who/what has access to it
- what can and must not be done with it, etc.
We are also strong, active, proponents for open source (for over 30 years we have been directly contributing to open source projects), another form of technology freedom and empowerment that has changed the world.
